General Notes:
Ethel, our mother, first met her husband-to-be, Robert B Marr, our father, when she was 6 years old. Robert was friends with her older brother Charles Wallace Spink, a.k.a. Wally. Wally would walk Ethel to school, and according to dad, she would stick her tongue out at him with regularity. Mom married dad 14 years later, in 1943, and stayed with who she called, "the crotchity old man" for 67 years. When she died in 2010, she and Robert had known one another for 80 years.
Ethel spent her entire adult life caring for her husband and children, and eventually her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the perfect mother.
Robert and all her kids and spouces, along with a lot of grandkids and great grandkids were at the nursing home on March 6, 2010 to help them celebrate their 67th aniversay. Her husband, all of her children, some spouces and grandchildren were also there on March 21st, 2010 when she peacfully passed away.
It has been determined that Ethel and Robert B Marr were responsible for 46 people, including children and their spouces, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Medical Notes:
Ethel was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in about 1999. She took medication to slow down the progression of the disease. Even as of this writing, 18- December, 2008, she still knows her family.
In October of 2008 she suffered some kind of "virus" that temporarily shut down her motor skills. Her arms, hands, legs and speech were affected. To this point, she has spent several weeks between the hospital and the nursing home for physical and speech therapy.
She also had issues with blood pressure and adult-onset diabetes. These are being controlled by medications, and the loving watchful eye of her husband, Bob.
In December of 2009, Ethel suffered a stroke. She lost control of her left arm and leg, and her speech was affected. She eventually regained feeling in her left leg, but continued to be wheelchair bound until a few days before her death when she couldn't get out of bed.
