James Ferguson 41
- Born: 5 Jun 1845, Kilmarnock, Ayr, Scotland 41
- Marriage: Annie Hay Andrew
- Died: 28 Aug 1938, Kilmarnock, Ayr, Scotland at age 93 38
General Notes:
"6th child and third son". The Kilmarnock Standard in 1909 noted James "developed exceptional powers as a left-hand medium bowler, and was recognized by competent judges to be one of the finest bowlers in the West of Scotland. This is borne out by the fact that he not only won the Club prize for bowling but that the Clydesdale team, which in those days was the most prominent and about the strongest combination in the West, invited him to accompany them as a bowler while on tour in Ireland, but the honor was declined. While the two brothers were not very conspicuous as batsmen, still they got valuable runs for their side on many occasions by the perfect understanding between them in playing the tip and run style of game ... Not only in cricket has Mr James Ferguson proved himself as an adept. As a ped., as a quoiter, and on the bowling green he has carried off prizes, and he was a member of the rinks of the Kilmarnock Bowling Club that won the Scottish Championship two years in succession in 1894 and 1895."
He married Annie Hay Andrew. In 1901 he was cotton cloth manufacturer living at 5 Princes St, Kilmarnock with his wife, son and a servant.
His wife died in 1925 and James on 28.8.1938 at 6 Dundonald St Kilmarnock. His son Robert, who lived with him, was present when he died. 38
James married Annie Hay Andrew. (Annie Hay Andrew died in 1925 38.)
